Daydreams on Elm street

Day dreaming on Elm street. If it wasn't for all the pumpkins...

Mowing the law.

Our lawn is being trimmed by a very big mower.
We were sunbathing, but now we are hiding inside for fear of being swept into the blades.
We hope the possum, the deer, the rabbit, the chickens, the cat and the fox stay away, today.
There is a new fire warning sign in the kitchen, too.
It tells us to direct the fire engine to the corner of Rattle Snake hill.
We wonder what may be hiding in the grass...

Sunday afternoon - far from lazy

When we go for a walk we accumulate dogs, adding at least one more from every farm we pass.
First, they bark at us, a lot.
Then, they follow us all the way out and back again to our front door.
They sit on the lawn and stare through the windows.
Some of them play together.
After a while they go away, but sometimes we have to shut the curtains and turn off the lights.

a blustery day...

"I told you I DON'T LIKE RUNNING!...anyway, the eagle wasn't chasing ME..."
"What do you mean not outdoorsy? I'm out bloody doors now. I just prefer to WALK!"
A sewage truck drives past. It has 'We seek perfection' printed under the company logo...seems an odd place to look.

On the High Line...

Goosey goosey gander
Gazing down at gutsy Gotham
Grateful for the graceful grasses

The high line is a landscaped walkway made from an obsolete railway track. It runs from steps at Gaanzevoort in the meatpacking district towards Central Park.

Monday afternoon...

The local supermarket sells boxes of 'deer attracting' salts.
On the back of the box, it says the products can be used to bring deer to a particular spot for photos or research.
On the front of the box the deer is pictured sitting beside a smiling man. They look happy in each others company.
A cross-hair target is printed over the deer's heart.

4th October

We have a deer living under the porch.
It is "archery season"
Do we make it a fluoro jacket or a camouflage vest?
